Air Quality Monitoring at the Rhode Island Airport

ADVM2 environmental consultants are providing air quality monitoring support for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.  Four monitoring stations are positioned at the site with one station at each end of the two runways.  Each monitoring station includes an aethalometer (Magee Scientific), a polyaromatic hydrocarbon monitor (PAS 2000, EcoChem), an ultra-fine particulate monitor (TSI 3783 or Teledyne 651), a TO-13 monitor (Tische, PUF+), a PM_2.5 particulate sampler (Thermo, Partisol), a TO-15 canister collection system, and a TO-11 cartridge system.  The aethalometer collects one-minute average data.  The PAS sends data every 6 seconds.  The EPC sends data every 10 seconds.  The PUF and particulate sampler are operated on a 1-in-6 EPA schedule.  The TO-15 and TO-11 analysis is performed once per month.  ADVM2 handles all filter procurement, installation, and lab coordination for the project.  All of the data is collected via an automated system and populated into the AADVM2 MySQL database.  In addition, ADVM2 provides the data to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management in an ACCESS format.  All stations are monitored continuously and we have implemented an alert system that notifies us whenever a measurement parameter exceeds an established limit or when an instrument operational parameter is out of specification.  This allows us to rapidly identify issues and perform any repairs and/or maintenance in an expedited manner.  We thoroughly analyze all the data and provide summary quarterly and annual reports.
